Growth Starts From Within

For years I’ve suffered with a severe case of mental incarceration. Wandering through life’s day-to-day like a trapped mouse in a perpetual maze of uncertainty. Over time I conditioned myself to idolize those who were self-motivated, proactive and actually living life, while I on the other hand merely existed. After prolonged periods of continuous self-doubt, I consciously isolated myself in hopes of igniting the adrenaline that once flowed through my veins like jet fuel. As I resided in mental exile I forcefully conducted a question-based self-analyses. “Did I lose my spark, am I pleased with who I’ve become or becoming, have I given up on life, what is the meaning of life?”

Wait…STOP!!… The meaning of life is such a profound question that it will forever be unanswered. However, taking a more holistic approach to my development forced me to rephrase that very question… “What is my purpose in life?”

Who would have known, a single unexpected thought forged from misguided ideologies has provided the clarity that I’ve been seeking. “In order to be great, we must do what great people do”. As implicit as that may sound, the underlining message could not be clearer. Mediocrity must not be praised or rewarded with acceptance. We must challenge ourselves to be more than what society considers as “status quo”. We must also make sacrifices for things that are important to us, or else those important things now become the sacrifice. With this new understanding, my perception on life has changed forever. I went from idolizing to despising other’s achievements to now respecting their unrelenting drive to succeed. I was also able to disrupt life’s 9am to 5pm “same shit, different day” attitude by simply creating positive and exciting activities to look forward to. Just the thought of indulging in these activities naturally redirected my current or potential unpleasant mindset and/or behavior to a more motivated mental space. My life’s calendar is now inundated with an enormous amount of exciting events. Here is a list of activities that have kept me motived and are now iconic symbols of my existence … Professional DJ, Sketch Artist, Writer, Master Sales Trainer, Speaker, Semi-pro Aggresive Skater, Kite Maker, Mentor, Hobbyist, Influencer, Entrepreneur and soon to be Published Author. My journey has only begun, how about yours?
